The first pay and play course in Sweden, established in 1990. Halmstad’s only seaside course. The Vilshärad short hole course is situated right next to the sea in a fabulous setting only a few km north of Halmstad & Tylösand, adjacent to the shallow waters and sandy beach of Vilshärad. The course is open year-round and we always play on standard greens!
Everyone is equally welcome here! The model is pay and play: you don’t need a green card to play and if you don’t have your own equipment, you can rent it here. If you have never held a club before, you can practice a little on our driving range before you venture out on the course.
Our golf course has 12 holes, all par 3, and maintains a very high standard. Many of the holes are guarded by both ponds and bunkers, and combined with fast and honest greens, this makes the course challenging for even the most experienced golfer. We hold an annual short-hole championship when about 30 pros from Halmstad and elsewhere in Sweden face off to win the challenge trophy. If you are aiming to lower your handicap, your short game has to work, and according to one past champion it’s hard to get better training than this.
Our golf course is not particularly hilly, even though we added 3,000 tonnes of earth and sand in the winter of 2010 to shape a few new hills and dunes to create an even more distinct links feel. A round takes an hour or two depending on your condition. This makes the course ideal for both younger and somewhat older people who are not really up to a five-hour 18-hole round.
In addition to the golf course, we have a full-length driving range equipped with Top-Flite tour balls, a practice pitch with sand bunkers and a putting green. The golf course and range are open year-round and there are always summer greens! ‘Pay and play’ on a short hole course in excellent condition and right next to the sea in the summer city of Halmstad – featuring views that are hard to beat – is always a good choice. There are a lot of good courses in Halmstad, but only one seaside course.
